What will we pass on to the next generation? The term
generativity means the desire and action to contribute to the well-being of future generations. This has been expressed through teaching, caring, sharing experiences and mentoring since the beginning of civilization. The hope is to ensure the survival of the next generation.
The divisions between generations can be great. However, God’s word and His presence are timeless. God transcends time; He was present from the beginning, is here today and will be here tomorrow and even forevermore! As the creator of all, there is nothing unknown to Him. Therefore, the Bible, especially the gospels, and His living word are relevant to all people of all ages around the world.
First, let’s start with the end in mind. What do we want for future generations? A deep and strong faith? Then, let’s share what we have experienced through our faith. Our motto last year was
Prayer Works! Prayer is a great place to start changing our proximity towards a younger person. Call upon our Heavenly Father in prayer to help us with this important work.
It’s time to do good! We need to get close to our young children and youth. Our presence is important. This is not just proximity, being in church with them, but rather developing a relationship with them. Mentoring them with spiritual values and principles. Providing a safe and loving friendship. Helping them navigate their way through difficult times.
We also must understand that not all our efforts will be fruitful today. After all, God respects the free will He gave all humankind. But in the end, it is God Himself who saves. So, let’s not become frustrated, but rather continue to sow these precious seeds in the generations to come.
