At the beginning of 2025, our Chief Apostle shared the motto “It’s time to do good.” This beautifully aligns with the message given to our Confirmands: “Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.” (Philippians 2:4)
This is a call to action for all of us!
I hope each one of us has been able to do good in some way this past year—whether it was lending a helping hand to someone in need, offering words of encouragement to someone who was struggling, or praying for someone who required God’s help.
As we enter this festive season and the year 2025 draws to a close, we are again presented with many opportunities to help others. We can donate food to a food bank, offer support to someone in need, uplift a friend who is feeling down with a thoughtful gift, or simply visit someone who is alone. Our time is precious and meaningful.
Looking after our own interests often comes more naturally and is important. Our heavenly Father wants us to care for ourselves, but He also asks us to consider our neighbour—their needs, their concerns, and their well-being. In Romans 5:5, we read: “The love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” It is through this love and the power of the Holy Spirit that we gain the ability to care for our neighbour, and to show empathy and compassion for others.
“Doing good” is not simply a motto for this year; it is a request from our heavenly Father that does not end on December 31, 2025. It is a lifelong principle for all Christians, and a way to express our gratitude for God’s love and grace—by using the gifts and talents He has entrusted to us.
Let us look back on 2025 with thankfulness: for the many blessings we received from God, and for the positive experiences we enjoyed in our natural and spiritual lives. Certainly, this year also brought challenges, disappointments, and times of failure—but through it all, our heavenly Father never left our side.
Wishing you and your loved ones a very blessed, joyful, healthy, and successful year 2026!
