Almost a third of the year is already behind us. Spring has sprung, we celebrated Passiontide, and soon we will surround our confirmands as they give their vow of faith to God. As children of God, we steadily move forward and keep our focus on the goal of our faith, the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.
At the beginning of the year, we received the motto “It’s time to do good,” which I am sure we are all familiar with. Let us pause a moment to consider how we have acted on this motto so far this year. To do good means we seek to fulfill God’s will and do what contributes to our salvation and that of others. We ask ourselves, have we seized opportunities to do good in our families, for our children, for our brothers and sisters, for our neighbours and even for ourselves? We are motivated by our love for Christ and our neighbour. We have experienced over and over again the love of God. It is His great investment of love in us which continues to move us towards our goal.
We can also include our wish to do good in our prayers. Let us ask our dear Lord to guide us by the Holy Spirit in our initiatives to do good. The Holy Spirit will inspire us and help us to recognize the opportunities that are before us.
In the coming months, many activities are planned in our congregations and districts where we can engage our gifts and talents. Let us activate Christ’s love, reach out to one another and do good.
