Joshua 1: 5–6 — “No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and of good courage…”

The last three school years have been anything but consistent. Schools closed, schools open, virtual studies, just to name a few. I hope that this coming year of 2022–2023 will be back to normal and that students, parents, teachers, and staff working in the school system are filled with excitement! That is a very interesting word, excitement. Excitement is usually defined as a feeling of looking forward to something with joy and maybe with a little nervousness. We combine excitement with enthusiasm. Enthusiasm directly translates as “God within.” The gift of the Holy Spirit when active within us reminds us that God is with us and will not forsake us. This assurance and our trust in God makes us strong and gives us courage. Let us connect to Him in our prayer life and activate the Holy Spirit which will also produce godly thinking and characteristics. For our children, with this strength and courage, they can overcome their nervousness about a new school year, meeting new classmates and teachers and face what may be unexpected. This applies to all of us in addressing the opportunities and challenges in life and faith. Important for all of us is professing our faith by being a good neighbour, living as a child of God and trusting in God.

I wish all of us many wonderful experiences of faith in the coming school year. May God be visible in and through us. Together with God’s servants and many in the congregation, we support you in prayer for much success and blessing.
