THE JOY OF SUMMER
Posted by: District Elder Robert Braun

As summer comes to a close and a new school year begins, we should be thankful that we have an opportunity to go to school. I know and have experienced the fear of a new school, new classes, and new people, but time and time again, we experience every day that God loves us and He never forgets us!

When I am filled with fear or face new challenges, I think of the wise words of King Solomon. “Trust the Lord with all your heart, and don’t depend on your own understanding.  Remember the Lord in all you do, and he will give you success." (Proverbs 3: 5-6 NCV).

What can we do when we are faced with fears or challenges in the new school year which is to come? Here are three simple steps we can do every day to turn our challenges into successes:
  • Pray to God,
  • Trust God,
  • Work hard
If we follow these three steps, we can succeed!

School is not the only thing that starts up in September. Every Sunday, you also have the opportunity to go to Sunday school or Religious Instruction class! These classes are where you first learn about your faith, belief in God and the Lord Jesus. This year, for our children in Canada, there is an exciting and brand new Sunday School program! This is also a very important part of our life. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” (Matthew 19: 14 NIV)
This is such a wonderful promise from the Lord Jesus. What should we do with this promise? Do we ignore it? No! Jesus calls you and I to go to Him! So let us be thankful and pray for the new school year to come, where we can meet new friends, have the right teachers and be the best students we possibly can be. Let the new school year be filled will joy knowing that Jesus loves you and He will never forget you! Trust in Him always and surely our challenges will turn into successes! Wishing you a successful school year to come.

Although this letter is addressed to our children, it is still very applicable to us as adults. We also are sure Jesus loves us and never forgets us.
