Dear brothers and sisters,
Christ is our future! Christ is also our example, and today I would like to talk about His example as an anti-racist.
The vision statement of the New Apostolic Church begins with the phrase, 'A church in which people feel at home.' Home should be a place of acceptance, warmth, and love. At home we should feel safe, and that we belong.
We share the suffering of our brothers and sisters who experience racism in daily life, even sometimes in our own congregations. Racism, in all its forms is contrary to the teaching of Christ and the commandment to love our neighbour as ourselves.
We stand in solidarity with our black brothers and sisters, and all people who may experience racism. Therefore, a project group has been formed to create an awareness program in an effort to prevent racism, discrimination, and bias in our congregations in Canada.
Together we stand against racism on the journey to fulfilling our vision for everyone: ‘A church in which people feel at home and inspired by the Holy Spirit and their love for God, align their lives to the gospel of Jesus Christ and thus prepare themselves for His return and eternal life.’
Thank you in advance for embracing this program, as it depends on everyone to make it work.
