ADORATION & WORSHIP
Posted by: Apostle Frank Dzur

We are continually encouraged to cultivate our “Prayer life”.  Prayer remains a personal and essential expression of our soul, our desire to commune and to build our relationship with our triune God.  The catechism states (13.1) “In prayer, the believer experiences: God is present, God hears, and God answers.”  Our prayers are also an expression of our faith and inner attitude which is characterized by our trust in God.  Prayer is not bound to any external form or to express oneself in eloquent terms.  We want to shut out our busy lives life for a moment, pause, bow humbly before God and connect to Him.  God knows our heart and we can be completely open to Him.

When we look at the content of our prayers, generally they can be defined by the following four elements:

  1. Adoration and Worship
  2. Thanksgiving
  3. Petitions
  4. Intercessions
Some of our soul care letters (be.log letters) throughout the year will address these four elements of prayer.  Today we will address Adoration and Worship.
Our God is Divine, Eternal, Almighty, Omnipotent, Holy, Majestic, Loving, Gracious, Kind, Merciful, and triune – Father, Son, Holy Spirit.  In reverence, we approach Him!  We recognize He has no limitations, has created all things, and is worthy of glory and honour.  Jesus Christ is the resurrected and exalted Lord who has gained the victory over hell and death.  The Holy Spirit is the maker of the new creation revealing truth and knowledge.  Through His grace, we can approach our God as “Father” acknowledging our awareness of the Almighty.  Through our adoration and worship, we express our love, respect, admiration, esteem, and devotion to our triune God.

Our prayer expresses what is in our soul and even sometimes when we do not know what or how to pray, the Holy Spirit can be called upon to help us – Romans 8: 26 “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”
