Hamilton - 50th Wedding Anniversary

On Sunday, May 7th, District Evangelist (ir) and Sister Chahley received their 50th wedding anniversary blessing in the Hamilton Church. District Evangelist Ken Chahley was a sailor in the Canadian Navy when he met Anne on Parliament Hill in Ottawa in April 1966. She and a friend were asking where to go to see the sites. Ken and his friend overheard this and offered to drive them around. It was love at first sight. They were married on May 20, 1967. Sixteen years later they were adopted into the New Apostolic Church by Bishop Kuhlmann.

District Apostle Woll conducted the divine service on May 7th. For this anniversary blessing he used a Bible word from Isaiah 43:1: But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel: "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine".

God "formed" Jacob through the trials of life, which culminated when he wrestled all night with the angel, refusing to let him go until he blessed him. God then changed Jacob's name to Israel. Likewise, God formed the "golden couple" through the ups and downs of life. Through mishaps, we become richer when we learn what God wants to teach us through life's experiences.
