BEAUTIFUL STEPS IN GOD'S PLAN
Posted by: District Elder Brian Sigmund

Confirmation is an important event in the lives of young Christians.  These young adolescents take on responsibility for their life of faith and make a vow to follow the Lord through all conditions of life and to especially remain loyal to Him at all times.

Important foundations have already been laid into the hearts and souls of the children by their parents and guardians.  This foundation was strengthened through the teaching in Sunday School, Religious Instruction, Confirmation classes, and by attending the divine services.  All of this valuable teaching was provided to them in order to make them aware of the beautiful steps in God’s plan of salvation and to bring their faith to life in real-life situations and conditions which they will encounter.

After confirmation, they take their place within the congregation and help along wherever they can.  Certain gifts and talents were provided to them by God Himself. They will receive great joy in utilizing these special gifts to help along and to profess their faith.

Following their special Confirmation Day, they are warmly welcomed into the youth group.  Here they have the opportunity to participate in various activities and on-going events that are geared especially for young adults.  These include annual youth days where they have the opportunity to meet youth from other regions, monthly youth services and outings with other youth who share the same Christian values and join outreach events within the community.

Today there are an increasing number of influences that can pull the youth in many directions, especially in ways that can distance them from their commitment to God. It takes courage and steadfastness to commit to the confirmation vow and to continue to be led by the Holy Spirit in all decisions they will make in their life of faith.  In the congregation, many have lived through both good and trying times and have experienced their faith.  By persevering they have proven themselves and are still proving their faith in God.  These individuals are wonderful examples and can become mentors to our youth.

We have the assurance that God is with us in all situations of life and He will help us if we put our complete faith and trust in Him.
