What is Confirmation?

Confirmation Day is a very important event in the life of a New Apostolic Christian!  It is when a boy or girl, in their 14th year, takes a vow of faithfulness to God, and becomes an adult member of the congregation.  This is a defining moment in their Christian life, as they now take full responsibility to confirm their faith and accept Jesus into their hearts.  Up until their day of Confirmation, the parents accepted this responsibility for their children when they were baptized.

The Confirmands are prepared for this day, by attending a year of religious study.  This is on top of the fundamental teachings of Christian faith that are taught in Sunday School and Religious Instruction classes.  A review evening is held a few days before Confirmation Sunday, where they show what they’ve learned through various displays and interactive skits and games.  Their parents, family and friends are invited to come and enjoy the displays and see the many creative ways the children express what their faith means to them.

On Confirmation Sunday, the congregation, along with family and friends of the Confirmands, share in the joy of this event as they witness these young adults recite their vow of faithfulness to Jesus Christ.  Following the ceremony, the remainder of the day is filled with celebrations and fellowships.  They are especially welcomed by their peers into the Youth Group, where they now can be a part of a dynamic and exciting program geared especially for teenagers.
